Boop is made by one person in the UK. It asks for very little, and the photos you take stay on your phone.
The short version. Your photos and stickers never leave your device unless you choose to share them. We store a display name, an optional email and a country so the community features work. We use Firebase for analytics and crash reports, and RevenueCat to handle subscriptions. We do not sell your data, and there is no advertising in Boop.
Boop is developed and operated by Taiwo Omisore, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy you can reach a real person at hello@boopapp.uk.
When you scan a pet, the photo is processed entirely on your device. Breed recognition runs through Apple's Vision framework and a Core ML model bundled inside the app. Nothing is uploaded to identify a pet, and the feature works with no network connection at all.
Your captures, stickers and sticker book are stored locally on your phone. They are included in your device backup if you have iCloud Backup switched on, which is between you and Apple. They are uploaded to us only if you deliberately submit a pet for Pet of the Day.

Location is used to place a pin on your map. It is stored with your sticker on your device, and is only sent to us if you submit that pet to Pet of the Day. You can decline location permission and everything else in Boop keeps working.
We do not sell or rent personal data, and Boop contains no advertising or third-party ad tracking.
Separately from the app, boopapp.uk uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits, mainly so we can tell which posters, cards and stickers people actually scan.
Nothing is stored on your device until you agree. Before you choose, Analytics receives an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed. If you press OK on the cookie notice, it sets a cookie so repeat visits can be recognised; if you press No thanks, it stays cookieless. Your choice is remembered in your browser - clear this site's data if you want to be asked again.
Where you arrive from a printed QR code, the link carries a short tag such
as ?r=poster so we can see which item brought you here. It
identifies the piece of paper, not you. IP addresses are anonymised, we have
not enabled advertising or cross-site features, and website analytics are kept
for 14 months. See Google's privacy policy.
If you join the Boop Fan Club, your email address is processed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit) purely to send you one email when Boop launches. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Boop is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The name and email fields are optional and can be left blank. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Your profile stays until you delete the app or ask us to remove it. Pets submitted to Pet of the Day are kept while the feature runs, so a featured pet keeps its credit. Analytics events are retained by Firebase for up to 14 months. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@boopapp.uk and we will action it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes everything held on your device immediately.
You can turn off analytics collection at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, and revoke location or notification permissions in iOS Settings → Boop.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note it in the app's release notes and update the date at the top of this page.
